KFC, JMR CONTINUE JOINT EFFORT TO INSPIRE YOUNG MALAYSIANS IN MOTORSPORTS

CYBERJAYA, Dec 3 (Bernama) --  KFC Malaysia has reaffirmed its long-standing partnership with Johor Motorsports Racing (JMR), as both organisations continue their efforts to inspire and develop young Malaysian talent in motorsports.

Now in its sixth year, the collaboration highlights KFC Malaysia’s commitment to nation-building, reflecting the brand’s belief in the power of sports to empower the younger generation and create opportunities across the motorsports ecosystem.

Tunku Panglima of Johor, Tunku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ibrahim, emphasised that sports remain an important platform for young Malaysians to explore and realise their potential.

“Sport is always beneficial, especially for the younger generation. There is a wealth of talent that needs to be nurtured properly within the right sporting industry.

“It’s vital to provide opportunities for young talents, whether in racing, engineering, mechanics, or other fields. Malaysia has an abundance of untapped potential that just needs the right opportunities to flourish,” he said.

He made the remarks to reporters after the ‘Sembang Kereta 2025 Edition' with Tunku Putera Johor Tunku Abu Bakar Sultan Ibrahim here today.

Tunku Abdul Rahman expressed his gratitude towards KFC, describing this year as particularly special as it marks JMR’s sixth year of partnership with the brand.

“It’s our sixth year partnering with KFC, and they have supported me since my rookie season in 2019. They were the first sponsor to believe in us — in me and the team — throughout these six years. They’ve been amazing partners,” he said.

When asked what inspired him to become a racer, Tunku Abdul Rahman shared that motorsport had always been a childhood dream, one he never expected to realise until opportunity struck.

“This has been my dream since I was a kid. When the chance came, I took it with all my heart,” he said.

Meanwhile, QSR Brands (M) Holdings Bhd chief executive officer and managing director Nehchal Khanna said the company is proud to continue supporting JMR’s growth on the international stage.

“At KFC and QSR Brands, we want to inspire a young generation of Malaysians to bring out the best in themselves and to reach for great success. JMR is a classic example of that.

“You have two young princes, both brothers, competing on a level playing field in the global arena. It shows that when Malaysians work hard and are hungry for success, they can achieve remarkable results,” he said.

Earlier, around 200 university students were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the technology, teamwork, and precision that drive JMR’s success.

They also participated in the interactive Sembang Kereta 2025 Edition session with Tunku Abdul Rahman and Tunku Abu Bakar, who shared their journeys as JMR drivers, providing invaluable insight into the discipline, dedication, and passion required for competitive racing.
