IMIGRESEN FC CLAIM VITAL AWAY WIN

MELAKA, Dec 25 (Bernama) -- Immigration FC’s 2-0 victory over hosts Melaka FC in a Super League match at Stadium Hang Jebat last night earned them three full points, marking the team’s third win of the season.

Immigration FC head coach Yusri Che Lah expressed gratitude for the important away victory, despite his players starting shakily in the opening 10 minutes of the match.

“Alhamdulillah, this was a win we were truly looking for and we finally managed to collect three points here. The players responded well, regained control of the game and went on to score two goals through strong commitment and fine build-up play throughout the match.

“Although both teams created several chances in both halves, the two goals reflected the players’ dedication over almost five months under my guidance, and I am very thankful for the discipline they displayed,” he told reporters after the match.

Earlier in the match, the visitors opened the scoring through Eduardo Jose Sosa Vegas in the 24th minute after pouncing on a rebound from Joao Pedro Boeira Duarte’s attempt, which Melaka FC goalkeeper Muhammad Haziq Aiman Mohd Esa failed to handle cleanly.

Joao Pedro then doubled Immigration FC’s lead in the 30th minute with another goal to give the visitors a comfortable 2-0 advantage, which remained unchanged until the final whistle.

On the other hand, Melaka FC head coach K Devan said defensive frailties that saw his team repeatedly breached were among the factors that placed his side under pressure, making it difficult to mount a comeback after falling behind.

He added that the club has submitted proposals to the management, including the club president, to bring in quality players in several key positions to strengthen the team, particularly in midfield and attack.

The win saw Immigration FC climb to ninth place in the league standings with 12 points, while Melaka FC remained 12th with six points.
