KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 (Bernama) -- The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Malaysia commemorated the 94th National Day in a grand celebration on Monday, highlighting the Kingdom’s progress and innovation on the international stage.
Hosted by Saudi Arabian Ambassador to Malaysia Mesaad Ibrahim Abdullah Al Sulaim at a prominent hotel here, the celebration was attended by over 2,000 guests, including dignitaries and foreign diplomats.
Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Mohd Na’im Mokhtar were guests of honour at the event.
The celebration also featured some of Saudi Arabia’s largest companies, including the Saudi Arabian Oil Group, also known as Aramco, and its national carrier Saudia Airlines.
One of the guests, Mahmoud Saddiq, a Saudi national studying in Malaysia, said it was the first time he celebrated this country’s National Day abroad.
“Being here, singing our national anthem, and meeting so many fellow Saudis in Malaysia makes me incredibly proud to be a citizen of the Kingdom," said Mahmoud.
Guests were feted with folklore dances and songs as well as authentic Saudi cuisine such as delectable kabsa rice, kanafeh dessert, coffee and tea.
Outside the banquet hall, Bedouin-style tents were set up to provide guests with an immersive insight into the traditional lifestyle and culture of the nomadic Arab people.
