WASHINGTON, Nov 6 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- Officials in Milwaukee, Wisconsin will reprocess around 30,000 absentee ballots in the US presidential election "out of an abundance of caution" after discovering that some doors of the tabulation machines were not fully closed, Anadolu Agency reported, citingUS media reports.

“There have been extensive discussions with election officials here in consultation with people in Madison and our attorneys, and they said, let’s make sure there’s absolutely no question, and so that part of the process will be redone,” city spokesperson Jeff Fleming was quoted by CNN.

He said the issues with the machines resulted from human error and affirmed that there was no evidence of tampering

Fleming noted that all tabulating machines are being reset to zero, and ballots will be rescanned through the machines. He noted that it could extend the counting process by several hours.

Millions of Americans are heading to the polls Tuesday to elect the 47th president of the US, with former President Donald Trump facing off against his Democratic contender, Vice President Kamala Harris.
