KAMAL ADWAN HOSPITAL IN GAZA URGES ASSISTANCE AS LACK OF SUPPLIES CLAIMS LIVES

10/11/2024 08:51 PM

GAZA, Nov 10 (Bernama-WAFA) -- Medical staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza have issued an urgent appeal for desperately needed humanitarian assistance amid a critical shortage of supplies that is costing lives, according to the Palestine News and Info Agency (WAFA).

The hospital, already struggling with the lack of resources, has warned that lives are being lost every day due to the ongoing Israeli blockade on the region.

"The region is facing widespread malnutrition and starvation," the hospital's medical team stated. "Northern Gaza is under a systematic attack, and our healthcare system is on the brink of collapse. We are unable to provide the necessary specialised care, and as a result, we are losing people every day."

According to hospital officials, the situation has reached alarming levels. "Yesterday, we received reports of women and children trapped under rubble in dire conditions, and today we mourn their loss as martyrs. It is unbearable to witness this tragedy," they added.

The staff emphasised the failure of the international community to take meaningful action in the face of mounting human suffering.

The hospital has also expressed grave concerns over the rising levels of malnutrition, especially among children and adults.

"Even basic food and medical supplies are running out," a medical source said. "We can barely provide one meal a day for the hospital staff, and our stock of medical supplies is rapidly depleting."

The staff at Kamal Adwan Hospital called for immediate international support, urging a lifting of the Israeli blockade on northern Gaza to allow essential aid to reach the area.

"The health and rights of our people are under severe threat," they warned, adding that the survival of many depends on the prompt delivery of life-saving resources.
