RIO DE JANEIRO, Dec 23 (Bernama-dpa) -- All 10 people on board a small plane were killed when the aircraft crashed in the southern Brazilian city of Gramado, reported German news agency (dpa).
The victims were a businessman from São Paulo, who was at the controls, and nine of his family members, the governor of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Eduardo Leite, told a press conference.
Additionally, 17 people on the ground were injured, two of them seriously, he said.
The aircraft hit an apartment building, a furniture store, an inn and the chimney of another building in the small town, the G1 website reported. The furniture store's Instagram account said no one was in the store at the time of the accident.
"We are all fine, apart from the huge fright," the post said.
The plane crashed a few minutes after taking off from Canela Airport in the morning, Leite said. It was heading for Jundiaí, some 1,000 kilometres north in the state of São Paulo.
The cause of the incident is being investigated, the governor said. The weather was not optimal.
