MAHAR VOICES ALARM, CONDEMNS HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN GAZA

KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 (Bernama) -- Malaysian Humanitarian Aid and Relief (MAHAR) has expressed deep alarm and condemnation over the escalating humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza, where starvation is being systematically used as a weapon of war.

Calling for voices to raise the issue so the world knows the truth about Gaza's dire situation, MAHAR in a statement Tuesday said this inhumane tactic not only violates international humanitarian law but has also pushed millions, especially children, to the brink.

"Disturbing reports from Gaza reveal that children are now losing their eyesight due to prolonged malnutrition.

“The deliberate denial of access to food, clean water, and medical aid is leading to devastating consequences and lifelong trauma for a generation already scarred by conflict," said the statement. 

MAHAR President Jismi Johari, in his address at the Council for Humanitarian Networking of Sheikhul Islam (CHNS) in Bangkok recently, said the world cannot remain silent while children are going blind from hunger and innocent civilians are being punished through collective deprivation.

In calling on Malaysians and the global community to act,  MAHAR adviser Nurul Izzah Anwar said : "We must all play our part in standing up for humanity, justice, and the sanctity of life."
