LAOS

 

1.AUSTRALIAN COMPANY INVESTS IN BLUEBERRY FARMING -- VIENTIANE TIMES 

Australian horticulture company Costa Group will invest RM270 million (AUD100 million) over the next five years in the Costa Blueberry Farm in Champasak province. The investment will modernise berry farming and create about 2,000 jobs. 

 

2.LAO-VIETNAM TO SET UP EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS -- VIENTIANE TIMES

The Vietnamese and Lao governments are working to establish the Laos–Vietnam University and the Vietnam Cultural Centre as part of their bilateral relations. Lao will allocate the land and draw out plans for the education institutions.

 

MYANMAR

 

1.BUILDING LONG-TERM RELATIONS WITH ALGERIA -- THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR 

Myanmar and Algeria are working to establish long-term diplomatic ties by focusing on developing strategic areas of interest. Both governments will target cooperation in key sectors such as trade, economic and tourism.

 

2.CHINA-MYANMAR TACKLING NARCOTIC-LINKED CRIMES --  THE GLOBAL NEW LIGHT OF MYANMAR

At the 20th Myanmar-China Joint Drug Control Meeting held yesterday, officials agreed to deepen intelligence sharing and tighten precursor chemical imports to halt narcotic production. Monitoring of poppy plantations using satellite imagery and the arrest of drug fugitives were also discussed. 

 

PHILIPPINES

The Election Commission (EC) has ruled out postponing the general election planned for Feb 8, next year, despite clashes along the Thai-Cambodian border, saying it has contingency plans in place to ensure voting can proceed as scheduled.

The central province of Gia Lai will host the Visit Vietnam Year 2026, which will transform the province’s economic landscape. The event will contribute to the development of cultural, heritage, community, sports, and eco-tourism. 

 

2.HO CHI MINH MODERNISING FISHING SECTOR -- VIETNAMPLUS

Ho Chi Minh City will allocate RM10 million (US$2.54 million) to support the fisheries sector and ensure social security for fishermen. The project plans to upgrade fishing vessels to reduce environmental impact.
