ABU DHABI, Feb 25 (Bernama-Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has warned that extremist groups are attempting to recruit young people in the country through emotionally manipulative messaging, urging families and communities to remain vigilant, reported Xinhua.
In a statement posted Tuesday on social media, the State Security Department said such groups use rhetoric that distorts facts and misrepresents concepts to draw youth toward radical ideologies.
The warning was accompanied by an awareness video illustrating how radicalisation can begin subtly, leading individuals to adopt extreme views, isolate themselves and spread intolerance.
The department stressed that national security is a shared responsibility and called on the public to report suspicious activities.
Also on Tuesday, Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE President, urged vigilance to counter extremist ideology and protect open and tolerant societies.
