BEIJING, March 4 (Bernama) -- China is ready to collaborate with global partners to advance research and development in humanoid robots and artificial intelligence (AI), as the country pushes forward with technological innovation and next-generation industries.
Spokesperson for the fourth session of the 14th National People’s Congress (NPC) Lou Qinjian said continued advances in China’s humanoid robotics and AI sectors could deliver benefits beyond its borders.
“Meanwhile, the rise and widespread application of humanoid robots will raise new issues in ethics, morality, social governance and other areas, which will require joint solutions from the world.”
“To enable robots to feel, think, decide and act like human beings, the world must continue working together on the relevant scientific theories and technologies,” he said at a press conference for the fourth session of the NPC on Wednesday.
The briefing was held on the sidelines of the annual “Two Sessions” in Beijing this week.
Lou said the development of humanoid robots relies on a range of advanced technologies, including intelligent chips, algorithmic models, big data systems, electronics, additive manufacturing and composite materials.
China plans to strengthen research in original innovation and critical core technologies during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026–2030) and pursue breakthroughs across key technological fields, he added.
Lou also emphasised that scientific and technological progress thrives in an open and inclusive global environment, adding that China is ready to work with international partners to ensure innovation benefits people and countries worldwide.
During the annual “Two Sessions”, held from March 4 to 10, China is expected to outline its national priorities for the coming year, including scientific and technological development, industrial innovation and international cooperation.
The “Two Sessions” meetings, comprising the NPC and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), serve as the country’s top legislative and advisory forums where major policies, Five-Year Plans and socio-economic strategies are discussed and approved.
