JANNIK SINNER BREAKS RECORD AS HE PROGRESSES AT MIAMI OPEN

NEW YORK, March 24 (Bernama-PA Media/dpa) -- Jannik Sinner set a new record for consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 events as the Italian reached the last 16 of the Miami Open, reported PA Media/dpa.

Sinner beat Corentin Moutet 6-4, 6-1 to make it 26 sets in a row without defeat at this level.

The world number two needed just an hour and 12 minutes to secure victory and will face Alex Michelsen for a spot in the quarter-finals.

In the women's draw, defending champion Aryna Sabalenka defeated Zheng Qinwen 6-3, 6-4 to set up a quarter-final clash with unseeded American Hailey Baptiste, who overcame Jelena Ostapenko in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
