JOHOR BAHRU, March 20 (Bernama) -- The Salam Ramadan Rahmah MADANI Sales Programme (PJRM), held at eight selected locations in Johor from Feb 22 to March 7, recorded total sales of RM1.69 million.

Johor Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the highest sales were recorded at Tapak Pasar Khamis Kampung Sungai Tiram here, which generated RM386,345 from 2,015 visitors.

The second-highest sales were at Tapak Lama Pasar Minggu Taman Anggerik, Bandar Tenggara in Kota Tinggi, which recorded RM196,882, followed by JDT Corner Big Screen Dataran Cenderawasih, Sungai Abong, Muar with RM190,802.

“The programme benefited 28,070 people across all locations,” she told a press conference after the Aidilfitri PJRM Walkabout at Dewan Muafakat Taman Nusa Damai, Pasir Gudang today.

Meanwhile, Lilis Saslinda announced that the Aidilfitri PJRM would be held in stages at nine locations from today until March 29, with Dewan Muafakat Taman Nusa Damai as the first venue.

From 9 am to 6 pm, the programme offers 64 essential items, including chicken, coconut milk, rice and spices, with 10 to 30 per cent discounts.

“For the first time, PJRM offers fresh meat instead of frozen meat at selected locations in conjunction with Aidilfitri. Most of the items sold are in high demand for the festive season, and we encourage the public to take advantage of this programme,” she said.

The upcoming programme will be held on Saturday at the parking area near Masjid Jamek Taman Perling here and Laman Kampung Melayu in Kluang.

It will be followed by Pusat Perdagangan Parit Yaani, Batu Pahat on Sunday, Tapak Pasar Tani Bandar Segamat (March 25), Perkarangan Bangunan Koperasi Felda Tunggal in Kota Tinggi, Dewan Muafakat Bandar Baru Bukit Gambir in Tangkak and Dewan Muafakat Taman Saujana, Pontian (March 27) and Tapak Parkir BS Taman Wawasan, Mersing (March 29).

Lilis Saslinda added that Aidilfitri PJRM is a MADANI Government initiative through KPDN to alleviate the cost of living burden by providing essential goods at lower prices, particularly for festive preparations.
