MAXIS, GTS PARTNER TO DEPLOY AI-POWERED FIREWALL TO ENHANCE NETWORK SECURITY

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Maxis has announced a strategic partnership with global telecom solutions provider Globe Teleservices Pte Ltd (GTS) to deploy an integrated artificial intelligence (AI)-powered firewall for messaging and voice traffic across the Maxis network in Malaysia.

Maxis, in a statement today, said the fully managed, end-to-end service aims to enhance network security and quality for millions of its subscribers while improving the integrity of international messaging traffic delivered into the country.

Under the initiative, Maxis and GTS will define and enforce firewall policies for international messaging and voice traffic terminating on the Maxis network.

Powered by advanced AI and machine learning (ML) leveraging aggregated global traffic, GTS’s Armour firewall provides rapid fraud mitigation through 24/7 monitoring and continual testing.

The Armour firewall is designed to block spam and international message bypass attempts originating from unofficial channels, or ‘grey routes’, as well as large-scale fraudulent operations such as SIM farms.

This will result in stronger network protection and uninterrupted communication for Maxis users.

Maxis Chief Enterprise Business Officer, Prateek Pashine, said customer trust and experience remain central to the company, and the partnership with GTS reinforces Maxis’ international messaging and voice defences through AI-powered controls and continuous monitoring.

“This ensures that essential messages reach subscribers quickly and securely, providing businesses with stronger delivery assurance and mobile users with a safer experience, all on our fast, reliable and secure network,” he said in the statement.

Meanwhile, GTS Group Chief Executive Officer Ashutosh Agrawal said the company is proud to collaborate with Maxis to safeguard messaging and voice channels at scale.

“Our AI-enabled Armour firewall combines intelligent threat detection with global delivery expertise to protect networks, enhancing customer experience and value that is often lost to fraud and bypass,” he said.

Through this partnership, Maxis and GTS are reinforcing the foundations of a safer, higher-quality connectivity and digital ecosystem in Malaysia that supports innovation, in line with the nation’s focus on cybersecurity and becoming an AI-driven economy — key priorities outlined in the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
