ASKL 2025 SUMMIT PROPELS MALAYSIA'S GLOBAL AEROSPACE STANDING

10/12/2025 01:54 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 10 (Bernama) --  Malaysia is boosting its position in the global aerospace sector as the Aeromart Summit Kuala Lumpur (ASKL) 2025 opens today, with a renewed focus on safety, sustainability and innovation.

The Southeast Asian premier aerospace business convention, taking place from Dec 10 to 11, features exhibitions, B2B meetings, and sessions on aerospace and MRO (maintenance, repair, and overhaul).

Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) Secretary-General Datuk Seri Hasnol Zam Zam Ahmad noted that the sector is rapidly evolving due to technology, safety and sustainability demands.

“As we look at the world today, we see an aerospace landscape shaped not only by technological progress but also by global safety priorities and a renewed urgency to build systems that are safer, cleaner, more efficient, and more resilient.

“In this context, the discussions over these two days will be significant in charting the future of flight.

“Malaysia is privileged to host this summit not only as the venue provider, but also as an emerging contributor to the global aerospace community,” he said in his opening remarks at the MATRADE Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Also present at the opening were Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) Chairman Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat and MTDC Group chief executive officer Ts Muhammad Hazani Hassan.

Hasnol added that the future of aerospace belongs to those who boldly embrace innovation, invest strategically in talent, and pursue sustainability with a clear purpose.

He said Malaysia has aligned its national agenda with these ambitions through economic planning and by investing in digital engineering, education, energy transition and technology to strengthen its industrial capacity.

“Through these efforts, Malaysia seeks to contribute constructively to the conversations and innovations that will define the next era of aviation,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Rahman highlighted that the Summit signifies a major shift, repositioning Malaysia within global aerospace supply chains from passive involvement to strategic partnership.

“Malaysia has built real capabilities in aerostructures, digital engineering,  MRO and precision machining.

“The task now is to scale those capabilities, plug more of our Malaysian small and medium enterprises (SMES) into global programmes, and close the remaining gaps in certification, productivity and technology adoption,” he added.

In its role as Strategic Investment Partner, MTDC is leveraging the Summit to directly link Malaysian SMEs and technology companies with global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Tier-1 suppliers, and MRO leaders.
