KLANG, Dec 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 13 companies under MBI Selangor Incorporated (MBI Selangor) have completed their Organisational Anti-Corruption Plans (OACP), aimed at strengthening governance practices and mitigating corruption risks across the group.
MBI Selangor Group chief executive officer Datuk Saipolyazan M Yusop said the OACP initiative began with five companies in 2023, followed by six more last year. Today, two additional entities, Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (YAWAS) and Yayasan Hijrah Selangor (Hijrah Selangor), completed their plans.
He urged other group subsidiaries that have yet to develop their own OACP to do so.
“InsyaAllah, the Integrity and Governance Unit under MBI Selangor will assist, from planning the Corruption Risk Management process until a company is ready to launch its own OACP,” he said at the 2025 MBI Selangor Group Integrity Day today.
Also present was State Secretary Datuk Dr Ahmad Fadzli Ahmad Tajuddin, who is also an MBI Selangor board director.
Saipolyazan said the group’s win in the Corporate Governance and Ethics category at the 2025 ESG Plus Awards reflected that MBI Selangor was on the right path in strengthening governance, instilling a culture of integrity and building external confidence.
“More importantly, when faced with allegations related to integrity and corruption, this recognition serves as evidence that our governance is in order and that preventive measures are in place,” he said, adding that the group is also working with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission to streamline procedures and policies.
Meanwhile, Ahmad Fadzli said the OACP must be implemented with genuine commitment and not merely to comply with instructions, as corruption that is not systematically addressed would lead to higher costs, revenue losses and declining service quality.
This, in turn, could negatively affect the state’s economy due to a loss of investor confidence, he added.
“What we seek is the true objective of the OACP, which is to address weak governance and effectively uphold integrity and anti-corruption within organisations,” he said.
