RUJI MOST COMPETENT CANDIDATE WITH BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF MEROTAI'S NEEDS - SAIFUDDIN NASUTION

TAWAU, Nov 20 (Bernama) -- The Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate, Datuk Ruji Ubi, contesting the Merotai state seat in the 17th Sabah State Election, is a competent candidate capable of implementing reform in Sabah.

PH secretary-general, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said that Ruji is an experienced and educated candidate with a background in public service and as a native of Merotai, he has a better understanding of the affairs in the constituency. 

"I appeal to the voters of the Merotai seat not to pass up the best choice," he told reporters after a youth evening programme at the Dewan Terbuka Merotai Besar here last night.

Saifuddin highlighted that Ruji has extensive experience from his service as an administrative and diplomatic officer, which led him to the highest positions.

"He served as director-general of the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), in addition to being the secretary-general of strategic ministries such as the Ministry of National Unity, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Education.

"Give him a chance; this is an appeal we consider most reasonable, as his success would, of course, allow the constituents of Merotai to have a representative who can easily facilitate matters between the public and government administration," he added.

Meanwhile, Ruji said that 50 percent of the voters in the Merotai constituency are under the age of 40, and the support of young voters is crucial as this demographic needs jobs and business opportunities.

"I can convey the issues facing our youth directly to the Prime Minister," he said, adding that he is also aware of problems regarding the gazetting of villages, including native customary land issues.

Located approximately 300 kilometres from Kota Kinabalu, Merotai is one of three state seats within the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency, alongside Tanjung Batu and Setabik.
