MELAKA TO LAUNCH TMM2.0 ON DEC 31 - AB RAUF

MELAKA, April 17 (Bernama) -- The state government will launch the Visit Melaka Year 2.0 (TMM2.0) on Dec 31, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.

He said this follows the extension of TMM2024 until 2026, in line with Melaka being selected as the host of the World Tourism Day (WTD) and the World Tourism Conference 2025, as well as the launch venue for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).

“This will be a new version of Visit Melaka Year and a timely move, considering that the state will host these three major events.

“It will serve as the ideal platform to welcome delegates from around the world, especially after Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim agreed for Melaka to be the launch venue for VM2026,” he told reporters.

He was met after attending the Hang Tuah Jaya Municipal Council (MPHTJ) Hari Raya Open House and the launch of the Snow World Theme Park at Melaka Mall here today.

Ab Rauf said the venue for TMM2.0 launch would be announced later, adding that the event would feature grand programmes and activities to attract more tourists to the state.

Meanwhile, MPHTJ president Datin Sapiah Haron said the reduction in admission fees to Melaka Zoo since January is expected to boost the number of visitors to the popular tourist attraction.

She said the lower ticket prices, in effect until December, are part of efforts to support WTD and the continuation of TMM.

“The new ticket price is RM33 for adults and RM19 for children, persons with disabilities and senior citizens. So far, the response has been encouraging, although visitor numbers declined during the fasting month.

“However, we saw an upward trend beginning the first day of Hari Raya, with many tourists and foreign workers from local factories visiting the zoo,” she said.
