IPOH, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- A total of 60 local artists took part in the “Lakar Agung @ Kuala Sepetang 2025” art exhibition under the Grand Works Exploration Project: Unveiling Visual Arts Through Literary Appreciation.
Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (MOTAC) Secretary-General Datuk Shaharuddin Abu Shot said the exhibition is an effort to strengthen the relationship between visual arts, literature and tourism as a complementary ecosystem.
“This exhibition does not merely showcase beautiful works, but acts as a bridge connecting art with cultural tourism while giving artists wider space to create,” he said in his speech at the “Lakar Agung @ Kuala Sepetang 2025” Art Exhibition held at a hotel here today.
Also present were Tourism Perak chairman Datuk Mohamad Kamil Shafie and People Of Remarkable Talents (PORT) General Manager Nur Hanim Mohamed Khairuddin.
Shaharuddin said Kuala Sepetang was chosen as the exhibition’s theme due to its distinctive backdrop, rich history, captivating natural landscapes and unique coastal community, making it a primary source of inspiration for the artists.
“Kuala Sepetang has its own story, rhythm and identity. The artists have succeeded in expressing this uniqueness through colour and form, effectively documenting the area’s heritage in a visual language,” he said.
He added that MOTAC, through the National Visual Arts Development Board (LPSVN), will continue expanding exhibition platforms, providing opportunities for local artists and strengthening the integration of the arts within the tourism sector.
“I would also like to record my appreciation to LPSVN, the Perak Artists Association, PORT and all art associations involved, as well as recognise the commitment of all the artists who made this exhibition a success,” he said.
