KOTA KINABALU, Nov 24 (Bernama) -- The cooperation between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Moyog state seat continues to strengthen to ensure the victory of PH candidate Remysta Jimmy Taylor in the 17th Sabah state election.
PKR vice president Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said the cooperation which was the result of his initiative, was not a new thing between PH and BN, but the cooperation this time was manifested through the coordination of the election machinery between the two parties.
He said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who represents PH, and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who represents BN, had announced such cooperation at the central leadership level.
“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Penampang UMNO division chief and UMNO supreme council member Datuk Mohd Hasnol Ayub for openly and without any hesitation ready to cooperate fully.
“In just three days after discussing, we have seen strong support not only from Penampang UMNO, but also from MCA, MIC and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) who are committed to help the PH candidate in Moyog,” he said at the Moyog BN gathering in Penampang, today.
“I will 100 per cent establish the closest possible relationship with Datuk Hasnol because he works with us and gives full support to the candidate and I accept it with an open heart,” he said.
Meanwhile Mohd Hasnol stressed that the BN Penampang stance is clear because BN is committed to supporting the BN-PH cooperation as previously decided by the central leadership.
He said that such cooperation should be expanded to other constituencies to ensure that all machinery operates in harmony, thus facilitating efforts to translate the vision and agenda of each candidate for the people.
"This is what we should be doing, we have made a decision and this decision is a unanimous decision that we are forging a cooperation between PH and BN, so there is no ambiguity there and I'm very thankful that you people are here to witness this, probably this is the first one anywhere, so maybe other places can emulate," said Mohd Hasnol who will deploy the cooperation machinery tomorrow.
He also described Remysta, the 37-year-old young candidate, as a credible, mature leader with the potential to bring about reform because he has a clear vision in line with the needs of the people in Penampang and Moyog
Meanwhile, Remysta said the combination of the two party machinery was a form of support that could increase the campaign spirit, but stressed that the machinery still needed to work hard to please the voters.
"Of course I am happy, but we cannot be complacent. We need to continue working to reach out to as many voters as possible to ensure victory in Moyog," he said.
