PUTRAJAYA, Nov 27 (Bernama) -- The Immigration Department is offering free replacements for Malaysian International Passports (PMA) that were lost or damaged in the floods.
Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said the initiative is intended to ease the burden on affected victims and ensure their travel needs and official matters can proceed without disruption.
“Victims whose passports are lost or damaged due to the floods may apply for a replacement passport free of charge at any nearby Immigration office.
“It is hoped that this initiative will help reduce the burden faced by flood victims and assist them in resuming their daily affairs more easily and in an organised manner,” he said in a statement.
He added that, for passport replacement, affected individuals must ensure their passports are still valid with at least 6 months’ validity remaining.
Additionally, affected individuals must bring their identity card; the original passport (if still in their possession); submit a copy of the police report (for lost PMA); and provide a flood disaster verification report from the Fire and Rescue Department or the local authority.
For further inquiries, applicants may visit the nearest Immigration office for more information and assistance.
Zakaria said the Immigration Department remains committed to delivering the best service and ensuring the welfare of the people remains a priority.
