MESF WANTS MLBB SQUAD TO FOCUS ON NEXT YEAR'S ASIAN GAMES

SEPANG, Dec 18 (Bernama) -- Malaysia Esports Federation (MESF) president Muhammad Naim Al-Amin has called on the national Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) team to maintain their winning momentum and, at the same time, stay focused on competing in the Asian Games in Aichi, Nagoya, Japan, next year.

"This momentum needs to be sustained, and the team should not be distracted. Emphasis should also be placed on increasing the players’ maturity and chemistry to ensure they remain consistent,” he told reporters after arriving with the MLBB squad that competed at the SEA Games Thailand 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 here today.

The national MLBB squad ended their SEA Games campaign on a high note, returning home with one gold and one silver.

The women's team delivered the gold medal after a hard-fought 4-3 win over the Philippines, helping to make amends for the men's team's silver medal feat after losing 4-0 to the Philippines in the final.

National women's MLBB team skipper Sharifah Alia Husna Syed Fakrurrozi said that while the victory has given the team a significant confidence boost, she believes that they can still take their game to a higher level if given more time to prepare.

She also encouraged women MLBB players not to give up and to be bold in showcasing their talents by competing in tournaments.

"Malaysia needs more women players. If you feel you are talented, then sign up for the upcoming tournaments,” she said.

Meanwhile, national men's MLBB team captain Idreen Abdul Jamal, while satisfied with the team's efforts, admitted that certain aspects of their game needed improvement, especially their decision-making speed during games.

He added that the experience of competing against stronger teams has taught them some important lessons, particularly in player rotation and in making swift decisions under pressure.
