GEORGE TOWN, March 9 (Bernama) -- Penang Pakatan Harapan (PH) does not view UMNO's Rumah Bangsa initiative as something that affects its current focus, instead it is concentrating on intensifying party efforts in preparation for the next General Election (GE).
State PH chairman Chow Kon Yeow said the coalition is now focusing on its responsibilities and work for the people while strengthening public support in the state.
“At this stage it is better for us to focus on our work. What happens outside (PH) is beyond our control.
“We will take care of our own house, our support and our work,” he told reporters after attending a Chinese New Year function and International Women’s Day celebration organised by the Penang Women’s Chinese Chamber of Commerce (PWCC) here today.
The Penang Chief Minister said PH will continue focusing on strengthening the party’s internal capacity while ensuring public support for the coalition continues to grow.
At the same time, he said PH’s grassroots efforts will also be intensified in line with current political developments, which are seen to be gaining momentum.
Last Friday, UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the party, under its Rumah Bangsa initiative, had opened its doors widely to any former members who had been expelled or suspended to return unconditionally.
