PEKAN, April 23 (Bernama) -- The Kembara Pahang 1.0 programme concluded today with a lively reception welcoming the arrival of the Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, at Pantai Lagenda here, marking the end of a three-day expedition.
Accompanying Al-Sultan Abdullah was Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah.
Al-Sultan Abdullah expressed delight over the experience, saying it gave him the opportunity to engage closely with the people, take in the state’s natural beauty, and experience the rustic charm of the village.
“We were greeted so warmly by the people, including the elderly, the youth, and student. I made it a point to stop and thank them for waiting for us.
“We had the chance to meet the people and visit their villages. Moving forward, we’ll explore ways to develop these areas in a modest way while preserving Pahang’s natural greenery,” said His Royal Highness when met by the reporters after officiating the closing ceremony of Kembara Pahang 1.0 here this evening.
The Kembara Pahang 1.0 programme covered a 428-kilometre journey that began on Monday, taking the royal entourage through four districts – Maran, Temerloh, Bera and Pekan.
Various interesting activities were held throughout the tour, including distribution of aid to the asnaf (zakat recipients), kenduri rakyat, and sukan rakyat (traditional games), allowing the royal couple to connect more closely with the local community.
Al-Sultan Abdullah also shared his intention to hold similar tours in the future to visit areas not covered in Kembara Pahang 1.0.
“We’ll carry out a post-mortem and look at how to improve the programme, as we don’t want the people to wait too long. Insya-Allah, we’ll visit other districts to meet the people and see for ourselves how things are on the ground,” he stated.
His Royal Highness said he received various complaints from the people regarding local issues during the journey and assured that these would be brought to the attention of the relevant authorities for further action.
At the same event, Al-Sultan Abdullah also flagged off participants of the Pahang inter-agency personal development course and the 2025 Mount Kinabalu Expedition, organised by the Pahang State Secretary’s Office.
A total of 65 participants from various state agencies are set to climb Mount Kinabalu, which stands at 4,095 metres, this Saturday and Sunday (April 26 and 27).
