KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested another individual in connection with the misappropriation of almost RM120,000 in zakat funds involving 26 unqualified applicants.
According to an MACC source, the woman, in her 50s, was arrested around 4 pm yesterday at the Kuala Lumpur MACC office when she showed up to provide her statement.
"Preliminary investigations found that the suspect, an employee in a statutory body, is suspected of colluding with a woman suspect who had been previously arrested by the commission on Sunday.
"The suspect is believed to have colluded to enable the applications to be issued by the statutory body,” they said.
Meanwhile, Kuala Lumpur MACC director Mohamad Zakkuan Talib confirmed the arrest when contacted, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 16(a)(A) of the MACC Act 2009.
