PUTRAJAYA, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) has confirmed that no offences involving RON95 fuel volume below the maximum permissible margin of error was detected and all petrol station operators met the measurement standards set.
A nationwide inspection on the accuracy of RON95 petrol pump dispensers was carried out following complaints by consumers alleging that the quantity of petrol received was less than the supposed amount after the implementation of the BUDI MADANI RON95 programme.
KPDN enforcement director-general Datuk Azman Adam said the ministry has conducted random inspections on 2,282 RON95 dispensers at 584 petrol stations of various brands, including full-fledged stations, mini stations and unbranded mini stations from Nov 2 to 9.
“The aim of the inspections was to ensure all dispenser pumps have undergone verification and their periods are valid, to ensure the accuracy function of the dispenser pump was within permissible margins of error and to detect any element of manipulation or technical non-compliance by petrol station operators.
“Throughout this operation, no offence involving the volume of RON95 below the maximum permissible margin of error was detected,” he said in a statement here today.
He reiterated that the ministry was committed to ensure that the accuracy of RON95 petrol measurement was maintained and not cause losses to consumers.
Azman shared that periodic inspections would be carried out and stern action taken if there were elements of manipulation or non-compliance.
The ministry’s priority would always focus on consumer protection and fairness in transactions, he said, and urged consumers with information or complaints to channel them via Whatsapp at 019-8488000/019-2794317, e-aduan@kpdn.gov.my or by contacting the call centre at 1-800-886-800.
