JAKARTA, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- At least 54 people were injured when an explosion rocked a mosque at State Senior High School (SMAN) 72 Kelapa Gading in North Jakarta on Friday, police said.
Jakarta Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said the victims suffered injuries ranging from minor to moderate as a result of the blast.
“Fifty-four people were injured, some with minor wounds and others more seriously, and several have already been discharged,” he was quoted as saying by Metro TV News.
Police are investigating the cause of the explosion, which took place during Friday prayers at around midday local time.
They have also set up emergency posts at Yarsi Hospital and Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital in Central Jakarta to assist victim and their families.
