HAKIM DANISH SECURES FULL-SEASON MOTO3 RIDE WITH MSI RACING TEAM

SEPANG, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Malaysian young rider Muhammad Hakim Danish Ramli has made a major breakthrough in his career after being offered a full-season contract to race with MSi Racing Team in the Moto3 class of the World Motorcycle Championship (MotoGP) next season.

SIC Racing team manager Zulfahmi Khairuddin said the offer to the 18-year-old is unlike most Asian riders, who usually require significant financial backing, making this opportunity one of the most special for a Malaysian rider.

He said the deal is completely different from the situation faced by Syarifuddin Azman, who competed in a full Moto3 season last year with high financial commitments.

“This time, MSi is offering Hakim Danish a genuine professional contract. They will provide his salary and bonuses, and we only need to cover some minor costs. It’s very different from the usual model for Asian riders,” he told reporters here today.

Zulfahmi said the offer came after Spanish rider Angel Piqueras was confirmed to move up to the Moto2 class next season.

“Many other riders were interested in the spot, so we had to decide quickly. Hakim Danish will use the same bike that Piqueras raced this season, which is a huge advantage for him,” he said.

He described the opportunity as a dream come true for both himself and the Terengganu-born rider, who has been competing in the JuniorGP and Red Bull Rookies Cup.

“Next year, Hakim will race in all 22 rounds of the Moto3 world championship. It’s a major challenge, but an important step in his career development at the world level,” he said.

Hakim Danish is expected to team up with Japanese rider Ryusei Yamanaka in the MSi Racing Team lineup.

He finished this season’s Red Bull Rookies Cup in third overall with 171 points after the final round at the Misano Circuit in September — just 65 points behind overall champion Brian Uriarte of Spain.

Indonesia’s Veda Pramata secured second place overall with 181 points.
